Use your tax expertise and accept a new intellectual challenge

Are you a Senior Tax Lawyer who has been thinking there¹s more to life than the daily grind of billing? Or maybe you have recognised tax expertise and are returning to work in NZ; or alternatively you are seeking new intellectual challenges in the tax arena. Then this role could be what you¹re looking for.

Our Office of the Chief Tax Counsel currently has permanent positions available for senior tax lawyers or highly experienced legal analysts. We provide technical leadership across Inland Revenue and high quality technical interpretations to our external customers on the application of taxation law.

It¹s a technically challenging role where your strong flair for tax and legal research and interpretation coupled with your highly developed ability to undertake critical analysis will be crucial in helping us.

Naturally for a role at this level you¹ll need superior tax technical skills and a sophisticated knowledge of relevant legislation. Just as important is your talent and energy to successfully meet tight timeframes which will continue to reinforce our credibility as we provide a wide range of advice to and on behalf of the Commissioner.

With your high level of written and verbal communication skills, you will have the opportunity to excel by clearly, concisely, and logically communicating your findings to senior personnel.

So, if you have a passion for tax and are stimulated by the challenge of resolving a range of difficult tax and legal issues, join us and make a difference. This is an intellectually challenging role working with people like you committed to providing high quality outcomes. You will be working in a supportive, family-friendly environment that recognises that you have a life outside of work.
